Bacon Lips is a high-energy band hailing from Auburn, New York. Formed in 2001, Bacon Lips is composed of seasoned musician’s that are veterans of the Central New York music scene. The band specializes in bringing the popular sounds of “rock-n-roll” to appreciative audiences throughout the tri-county area, playing a carefully crafted blend of rock music that gets an audience out of their seats and onto the dance floor.
Drummer Sal "Joe" Giancarelli is a music industry veteran, having toured around the world as a road crew member for one of the most successful rock/metal bands of the last decade (no, it's not Man-O-War). Sal, along with B. Money, was a founding member of Jaquaranda, then moved on to form local indie legends If Inertia. With innumerable live and recording credits to his name, Sal is uniqely qualified in his role as lead drummer in Bacon Lips, effortless switching from a gentle waltz, to the manic craze of the Stooges, to the sledge-hammer swing of Bacon Lips originals. Sal is also a member of The Scott Harris Project, poised on the cusp of greatness
Lead guitarist Kenny McGriddle brings years of experience and a stoic presence to the Bacon Lips experience. Brought up in the EVH/SRV school of guitar, Kenny also incorporates subtly and nuance into every performance. Often described as soulful, deep, and average height, “Ken” is often the difference between just another rendition of “Brown Eyed Girl” and a moment of true musical touch. Kenny has been thrilling audiences in a variety of bands since 1986, most notably as a founding member of Tenpenny (not the same Tenpenny currently popular in the CNY area) in 1993, releasing the CD “Lead” for DIY Records in 1994.
Bass player Skip ”Kip" Murphy joined Bacon Lips in 2004, replacing temporary fill-in bassist Otto. Skip plays with a brash, reckless enthusiasm that locks in perfectly with drummer Slappy O'Mally. Together they form a rockin’ rhythm section that propels Bacon Lips into dance groove nirvana. Although the least experienced member, Skip was hand picked by the band to replace the departing Otto, citing his potential, compatibility, and unmatched availability.
Lead vocalist B.Money completes the Bacon Lips lineup. Personally mentored by legendary frontman Jimmy Y, B has a wealth of entertainment experience, including fronting several CNY bands such as: Jacquaranda, Tin Buggy, Project Iris, and Tenpenny.
Together, Bacon Lips has gigged steadily since the summer of 2001, constantly refining the material to suite the audience. In that time, they have created a formula for winning over almost any audience, from smoky bars, to sophisticated corporate functions. Playing a wide variety of songs, from classic rock and modern rock, oldies, and country music, Bacon Lips can cover almost any gig and please an audience from 8 to 80.
